Great food, great ambience, great service. First, Mark, our server, was very attentive and new the menu like he wrote it--very knowledgeable about all the entrees and how they were prepared. He has one of the best I've had and I don't praise many servers. Second, food and wine were also fabulous. I had the horseradish encrusted filet as did my wife. Very delicious.

Was not very impressed. Read several reviews and decided to give it a try. The food was very over priced and the hostess didn't seem to interested in assisting. I ordered the NY Strip medium temperature and my friend ordered the Deputy Cut Ribeye medium rare temperature. My steak arrived raw. My friends steak arrived cold and nothing but fat with a brownish non grilled color. Made this aware to server Keith. He immediately took our steaks away for resolution. The manager returned with the redo, however while the temp was corrected, the meat had no seasoning an was tough. I would say this just might have been an off night, however I would suggest save $$ and visit another place. Our meal with NO appetizers and no alcohol was $76. Good luck.

Did a double date here for dinner. Great service. Very polite and nice and always checking on us. My biggest concern was the quality of food. I ordered the prime rib mid rare, but came medium well. Lots of fat in the cut. Too much in my opinion. My mom wife's rib eye was very rubbery and hard to eat. Her, my step son, and me came to 85 dollars. Just too pricey for the quality of food.

We tried the Alamo because we read that they had been rated best steak and my husband loves steaks. He did not think it was one of the best steaks he's had and he's had many. He says it was a good steak just not the best.I got the chicken sandwich and french fries and they were very good! My husband also got a salad and mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were awesome and the salad was perfect, other places you just get lettuce, a little bit of dressing, and cucumbers, but this salad had everything! The prices were reasonable, the greeter was nice, the waitress was very nice, and the manager came around and asked how the food was. I liked that the manager checked on us in addition to the waitress checking on us just enough. I also was impressed to see the manager serving food. Overall we would go back again!

Absolutely perfect!! Everything was GREAT! First let me say, Our server, Adam was very helpful and told us about the different steaks. I have eaten here many times but wanted the difference in the steaks- the two ribeyes. He was a pro at his job! Again he was very great and very attentive. Food was outstanding! Everything we had. My mom and i split the bone-in ribeye. it was excellent! Side Salad was huge. We had cream spinach it was awesome. Even the side of bearnaise sauce was great! Bake potato was big and very tasty. Our total was less than 50 and we ate like queens. Kudos Alamo steakhouse, excellent job!

Having dinner with the family. Juicy, tasty ribeye. Very good soup beans with chicken. Sweet potato was amazing.

I would offer 4.5 stars if I could, given our very pleasant experience at this Alamo location. The restaurant is attractive, the service was prompt and friendly despite being very busy, and the food was excellent. After dinner on the Fourth of July, we even had a nice view of the Pigeon Forge fireworks display from the attractively landscaped front lawn. The selections are not inexpensive, but the quality was very good...

  • Scott G.

I gave it one star because there is not an option for no stars. First, crazy expensive. Second, the food was absolutely swimming in grease. Third, service was about as slow as I have ever had. It was so bad the manager had to come out to apologize, she said it would be two more minutes ten minutes later we were still waiting. The bad part was the restaurant was empty. So the manager said she would give us complimentary deserts ended up being one LOL. I will never return that's for sure.

On the suggestion of a friend we tried the Alamo!! Not very impressed. We waited 15 minutes for a table and the place was only half full. The steak was nothing to write home about. Not worth the money.

Whether in Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg, this is a must for my family. Steaks are always great and cooked to perfection. The atmosphere is a little more quaint at the Gatlinburg location but the food is what you're really here for and it's great at both. Simply put when you're on the mood for red meat, stop here!

My boyfriend and I took a trip to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg for my birthday in November. The whole entire trip all I wanted was a nice steak. Someone suggested the Alamo and like the foodies we are, we accepted. It was the best idea ever. The food was absolutely amazing. The steak was cooked to perfection. The sides were ok. I stuck with the usually mashed potatoes. The drinks were good, but I really went for the steak. I'm giving it 4 stars because of our service. Our waitress wasn't the friendliest, but she did her job. All in all it was a great place,I would definitely go back but not to the same waitress.

  • Leah W.

Always a favorite of mine. The burgers are way too big to eat but so incredible. I would also recommend any steak on the menu. It's delicious and service is always great.

    (4)
  • Crystal P.

This was just ok. It is incredibly overpriced. We frequently indulge in higher priced dining, but this was not worth the money. The steak was poorly seasoned. The burger was enormous, but the flavor was bland as well. The French Onion Soup and She Crab soup was decent, but the balsamic dressing on the garden salad wasn't balanced.

    (2)
  • Cristal R.

The service was great. Our host and waitress were friendly and super attentive. The food was delicious. My table had three different salads (all big portions and flavorful), pork chops, salmon, and grilled chicken and everything was delicious. I am from out of town, found this on yelp, and it lived up to my expectations.

  • Carey B.

The food was excellent. We had a table of 7 adults. Our server kept our drinks filled and was very attentive to our needs. I have no complaints. Great place to eat.

  • Jason M.

I enjoy a good steak. The Alamo delivered on this except there was a small portion that was not well done and the bottom was burned a little. I had the New York strip and sweet potato. The waiter was fair and the cost may be a little pricey as the New York strip was $26.99. A couple can eat at the Alamo for around $70. The location is up on the hill off the main strip of pigeon forge and has a decent view. Most of the experience was good until you walk back to your car to find out you must go through a sales pitch for vacation packages.

  • Whitney M.

Great service , waiters are really nice but the food was ok. My husband will eat anything but my son and I didn't even finish our plate.

  • Vicky M.

Overall a good first restaurant experience. Food was good. A little pricey for the quality. An app, 2 drinks apiece, and main course was $100 for 2 people before the tip. Our waiter Jeff was excellent. Appetizer was steak nachos, which was a tasty beginning. My margarita was perfect. Husbands steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked, but my cashew chicken (chefs special, boneless chicken breast coated with crushed cashews and panko) needed some seasoning. Too full for dessert unfortunately. 15 oz ribeye $31, cashew chicken $20. Plentiful sides.

We hit up this place every time we come to Pigeon Forge! Absolutely the best steak and salad ..... The atmosphere is casual and old ranch feel. I love their house poppyseed dressing, I wished they sold it in bottles!!!! Definitely a great place to eat if you come to Pigeon Forge TN!!!!!

  • Hal G.

As always very good. First checkin but been here many times. Grilled oysters wedge salad salmon Oscar. Full size salad comes with all dinner entrees. She had French onion soup ( I like a lot) house salad (poppyseed dressing a little sweet for me but good and ful cut filet medium. Cooked just right as was my salmon. I like it medium rare and was spot on. No dessert tonight but they have some good ones from previous experience especially chocolate burrito topped with ice cream. Of will be back again. Not cheap but worth it

  • Eric W.

Went there on 7-11-15. Four of us, all ordered Filet's. All the filet's were overcooked, but mine was really overcooked. I even ordered the largest filet, I wanted it Medium. It came out as gray as can be and very dry. I told the waitress that I just couldn't eat it, so they sent it back to the kitchen and cooked me another one. It came out exactly the same. Really? Do they have a 12 year old back there trying to cook? You would think when a steak is sent back for not being cooked correctly that they would take particular care with that re-order. Nope. The waitress apologized and they did end up comping my meal, but big deal. I still left hungry (ate my salad and baked potato). So don't waste your money or time.

  • Leslie B.

From the beginning to the end, it was great! We had the oysters for appetizer, it was good. I had horseradish crusted filet and boyfriend had rib eye and both steaks were very tender. The staff is professional and customer service is a priority here. She crab soup was awesome, side salad above average and bread pudding dessert had wonderful raisins. Restrooms were clean as well. I would definitely return.

    (5)
  • Mary S.

This is a wonderful place and the staff is so polite. Our Steaks were excellently prepared. Grilled just right, juicy, and fresh. The wedge salad my husband got was nice and I loved the spinach salad, plus the rolls with honey butter are to die for!

    (5)
  • Darren W.

Had the deputy cut rib eye. I was not impressed. When I order a steak at a steak house I expect it to be bigger than one I can buy at the grocery store. $26 for a less than half inch cut that was very fatty is just not steak house quality. I can get a better cut at my butcher or SAMs. My wife had the salmon and it was dry and had no flavor. Good salad and service. Would not eat there again

    (2)
  • Carole L.

Great service. Delicious food. Would highly recommend the filet oscar and Santa Fe chicken. Our kids had the kids menu cheeseburger and cheese steak burger. Only complaint is we are so full!!

Great steaks but extremely over priced. The food here is really good but not at the quality and quantity of what they charge.

  • Alicia D.

We loved everything from the call ahead seating, our juicy steaks, and our server. Top notch all the way. Do not waste your time across the street at Paula Deans! Two hour wait, and our food was cold! This is the place to eat!! Thanks for making our night out a great one!

  • Jennifer M.

We read the reviews, saw the ads in the book at our hotel, had talked to other travelers staying next door to our room, and were ready to try out some local cuisine. We pulled into the parking lot right at 9pm. A young gentleman waiting outside greeted us and told us to enjoy our meal. We walked in and stood waiting to be seated. The host came over and said they were closed. In a busy tourist town, that's awfully early to close on a weekend. You may want to rethink your hours, upon leaving we encountered two more families walking in to dine, and even two more vehicles were pulling into the lot as we were leaving.

We went here on a Saturday night with a toddler in tow. Unfortunately, they were really really busy and our toddler was not behaving. So we got carryout. They really set us up! I had the Parmesan and horseradish crusted filet, which was so juicy and flavorful. We got the crab dip with the pita chips, which the toddler loved. They gave us rolls to go and plastic steak knives. The salads were huge and filled with toppings. I believe their ranch dressing was homemade. Delicious all around and very accommodating! Not to mention the view is great and the ambience of the place very appealing.

Great appetizers...bacon wrapped shrimp...can never go wrong with bacon...mozzarella sticks were the best I've had anywhere...had the ribeye...a good dining experience. Great service.

I love the Alamo! Every trip to the mountains we go to the Alamo in gatlinburg! I ordered filet migon med oh my gosh sooooo good and the sweet potato melted in your mouth not to mention the salad with poppy seed dressing! One of my favs

  • Amanda E.

My husband and I both had lettuce cores in our salads. We both ordered steaks and they were bland and looked like they were stepped on which means they were handled roughly. I don't know maybe the chef was mad and taking it out on our steaks. I had the Alamo potatoes which was fried potatoes nothing special and they were bland. The rolls tasted old. We both had dry glasses and when you are paying that much for a meal that should not happen. I will not be returning.

So I had waited all day to have the Prime Rib at the Alamo Steakhouse and at 6:30 they were out ~ Then they sat me under an air conditioning duct that had condensation on it that was dripping on me, the table and the floor ~ they moved me to another table that was not in my original waiters station ~ so he came up missing ~ I have always looked forward to a meal here when I am in town ~ REALLY DISAPPOINTED ~ the only thing they didn't ruin was the Jack Daniels, except they called it bourbon ~ Sweating pipe picture

Good variety on their menu. There should be something suitable for pretty much everybody. I myself ordered a beautiful steak with a baked potato and was very satisfied with it. Warm fresh bread rolls served with most all meals. The service was top notch, relaxed but respectful and polite from the hostess who seated us to our great waitress. I'd gladly return when I'm passing through here next time.

    (4)
  • Roxanne T.

The only reason to go back was for dessert! The steak was not worth $30 to taste like a steak from ponderosa! The salad had a hair in it and the other salad had a bug:( nasty!!! I will not return on my next visit, save your money!

  • Geno G.

Went for a steak... Had the El Presidente "Porter House" and it was excellent. A lil pricey for a steak dinner but being in a tourist area it was appropriate with similar venues. My steak was good perfect for medium rare and the seasonings were very flavorful... melted in my mouth... A loaded baked potato, garden salad and rolls. Service was good not over and above and not sub par either. We enjoyed it!

I am going to go ahead and quickly cut to the chase here about this place. It is overpriced and is nearly as lame as the commercialized city it resides in. Almost every item on the menu is around $18-25. Usually when I come across steep prices like that in Atlanta, it is because either the food is really good or the establishment has a fantastic atmosphere. Unfortunately, the Alamo encompassed none of the qualities that give it permission to charge high prices. The food was, at best, a step down from what you can get at your local Chili's or Applebee's. The inside of the place looked like that southern restaurant 'Folks', except with some cattle skulls on the wall to give it that Alamo vibe I guess. The only people that were dining here were the employees of the restaurant, and a few weird looking locals, who I like to refer to as "Carnies." But what did I really expect from a city that worships Dolly Parton? dollyparton.com I don't mean to go on a rant here, but if you ask me, I think the whole town is one big cheap neon light that tarnishes the beautiful mountains which surround it. The worst part is the main strip in Pigeon Forge, which looks strikingly similar to that main strip of highway in Panama City that everyone used to cruise down during high school spring break. To make matter even worse, all over the strip there are a bunch of crappy stores that sell those stupid shirts that are not even novelty items for tourists,,,,,,,they just say something like "FBI: Free Beer Inspector" or something equally as stupid.

Okay my friends and I went here. One loves the place had been there before. I'm overall dissappointed in the place. The service was fantastic no doubt. This was the best part of the meal. I had she crab soup, it was okay. Of course I lived in Charleston Sc and I know what real she crab soup is. The Caesar salad had store bought dressing on it, not good. I got the sheriff's cut or something. It was 30 bucks. Extremely fatty a 20 oz cowboy ribeye with the bone in and 4 ozs of fat on it. I was very dissappointed. The bearnaise sauce had too much tarragon on it. I enjoyed the creamed spinach that was nice. We got a free dessert out of it which was off the hook good. overall I won't go back for two reasons, poor attention to detail from the kitchen on the steak. Trim the fat off before you send a 30 dollar steak out to me. Second the price. way too high! Go to the chop house it was much better food.

  • Jay N.

I was told this was the best steakhouse around the area. I have to say it was very good. I'm from Chicago, so the higher prices weren't all that shocking. The bacon wrapped BBQ shrimp was absolutely delicious. The prime rib was also very good, but far from the best I've ever had. We went on an off season night, so the place was empty. Service was good, the staff was friendly and it was very clean. Over all a good place to eat if you don't mine spending the extra dollars.

The steaks were good not great, a bit overpriced. Steaks were cooked properly but actually came out just warm. Service was good not great and the server was pleasant. Overall a good meal not great, should be great for the price.

We had great time at Alamo little price but defiantly best steaks in town we tested both places. It's family friendly too. Staff is really friendly. This restaurant is defiantly must visit.

We went there with 3 kids and all of us loved it. Food was good, place was clean, service was excellent, and price was very reasonable. Glad we found this local place instead of going to a chain.

We vacationed in Pigeon Forge this week. We ate at one location of each of the restaurants owned by this family. I don't remember what day we ate at each, and will review each separately so this is only for the steakhouse. The service was fast and friendly. My food was good. My husband wished the garlic butter had been more garlicky. The menu doesn't tell you the size cut you are getting and there isn't the option to get larger or smaller cuts. The dining room was not as we'll cleaned as it could have been, I got sauce on my shirt from the table cloth before our salad arrived, so it wasn't me dripping on myself. All in all pretty good though.

  • Bobbert S.

We ordered steaks as this is their specialty and was not overly impressed. They were cooked to the correct temperature but there was no seasoning on them. Adding salt from the table helped. My wife ordered the she crab soup and it came out just above room temp. The speed over the service was off as well. We were only half was through the salads and the steaks came out. Overall, just ok food and service for too much money.

    (2)
  • E. Anne M.

You have to be careful what you order. The prices are high but the ambiance is more family restaurant than classy steakhouse. Service was totally attentive. Now, the prime rib strips appetizer was awesome but the crab stuffed mushrooms were awful (bready and over-cheesed.) Salads were fresh. The clam chowder was amazing with lots of clam (imported of course) but the french onion soup lacked flavor. As for the steaks, the filet was delicious but my Dad's porter house had a huge vein of fat, ruining his meal. (Not acceptable for $30) Dessert included stale brownies in our mudslide sundae but everyone loved the fried burrito. I'd say skip dessert and head to the Old Mill Creamery instead. Bottom line: Good food, but it's hit or miss.

    (4)
  • Kristen M.

Wow! Absolutely delicious!!! We were a large group and we were able to call ahead 30 minutes in advance but we still had to wait about 45 minutes after we got there to be seated. Once we were seated we told the waitresses that we were in a hurry because it was New Year's Eve and they were excellent. They took our order right away, splitting the check was not a problem at all. The food was to die for. The filet mignon fell apart by itself and the smoky flavor was great. I am usually not a fan but it was great.

    (5)
  • Josh C.

I have to say that is a 50/50 toss up here as far as quality is concerned. I have been here 4 times and 2 were great but the other 2 not so much. The steaks are great when they come the way you order them. Strangely enough I've had my best meals when they have been packed! I have to say yesterdays meal was saved by the waitress! She saw that our steaks were all over cooked. The prices are great for lunch but can be a little pricey for dinner. I will probably return here but I don't have extremely high hopes for the place. Also if you are a local ask for the locals card. Fantastic discounts at this restaurant and a few others!

  • Tonya G.

Food was not great. Both the Steak Oscar and Salmon Oscar tasted awful. Shrimp Scampi was just ok. There are much better restaurants around. Don't bother with this one.

    (1)
  • Lennon S.

The food is always awesome, the steak melts in your mouth. The ribeye is the most flavorful steak you can get there. The sides are just as good. We always make it a point to eat at The Alamo when we are in town. The wait can be long if you go to close to dinner time.

    (4)
  • Al Over D.

Oysters were tasty, but not detached from shell. This really needs to be done by the food prep to enjoy, so you do not have to fight them after they are cooked. Several oysters had shell in them so bad I could not finsh the last 2. Steak was good, but the price really is not in line with what you get. At these prices I would expect a prime grade steak. Steak was relatively thin. In fact so thin, I think they have a hard time cooking it to medium rare. Overall okay if price was more in line. This is about like a Texas Road House type restaurant.

    (2)
  • Lauren H.

Service was excellent, food was excellent. If you're looking for a great steak, this place should be safe for you to drop your dollars on. If you want to drink as well, just be warned they are skimpy. I got a glass of wine with my steak that was not even half full. I used to work at a bar so I know they're allowed to fill it up at least half way. Not sure if the bottle ran out and they were too lazy to open a new one or if this is standard practice. ALAMO MANAGERS IF YOU READ THIS, YOU NEED TO GET THOSE TIME SHARE TROLLS OUT. That is just tacky and bad business to allow pushy sales people to pounce on people when they've just spent a lot of money at your restaurant.

    (3)
  • Lacy W.

We come to the area at least once a year and we've been here about 5 times. Also to the one in Gatlinburg. We had some things that weren't that good, but it's usually very good. The absolute best thing that we get every time is the bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer. It comes with a side of their homemade sweet BBQ sauce that is SO good. I could totally make a meal out of a couple of plates of that. They also have fantastic desserts and many to choose from.

  • Woody W.

The Alamo is a Pigeon Forge staple. The food is always great, their know for steaks, but I have to be honest, if you their for lunch the burgers are absolutely amazing. We started with the Pita Nachos, very good, a real surprise at a steak place. We waited quite a while for our food, then the Manager showed up and apologized for the wait, he said they had overcooked my burger and he was having them remake it. It was worth the wait, the burger was perfect and he gave us our choice of a free desert for the wait. Mistakes happen, that's inevitable, insisting we accept the complimentary desert due to the wait is a sign of a manager who is MANAGING his restaurant, that's a lost art these days. Our sever, Heidi, did a great job. If your in Pigeon Forge /Gatlinburg, go to the Alamo, you won't regret it.

Pulled on for nice sit down lunch. The loaded baked potato soup was great. The roast beef sandwich okay. Ambiance very nice and quiet, service good but food slow arriving. Will revisit.

I had the hot crab dip appetizer which was excellent! It came with delicious pita chips for dipping. Then I had a New York Strip Medium which was cooked and seasoned perfectly. My husband had a Texas T-Bone which he was not totally pleased with because it was a quite thinner cut than he expected and although he ordered it medium it came out well done. It did taste good but was a little on the fatty side. We both had the Alamo potatoes which were delicious. The service was great, we just wish the Texas T-Bone had been better for the price, but overall it was a good meal and we would definitely go back.

No sauce needed here! -Super friendly -Clean -Large portions -Cost is around $18 per person(3course) -The steaks are great and tender, no sauce required. -All of the sides and salads are great. -The desserts are out of this world -My wife and I have ate here 5 times and would give it five stars every time -It is funny to me when people try to compare a $$$ to a $$ and that is what some reviewers did...ignorance.

We figured this would be a good place to eat and we were in the mood for a good steak while on vacation last week. After our meal and the service we received, we weren't too happy with our choice. First of all, our waiter (we called him Mr. Moustache) was one of the worst we have encountered in a good while. Don't ever want a 2nd drink or a refill on water with this guy or expect him to ask why you ate only a few bites of a high priced steak, it won't happen. I got the NY Strip with garlic butter, it was the toughest piece of steak I've had in years and there was no taste in the garlic butter. My husband got The Steak, high priced rib eye that was tough and tasteless. It was the most expensive meal we had on our vacation and also the worst meal we had and we will never return to that place.

  • Andy B.

I've eaten here on several occasions and have never had a bad meal or experience. I agree that they are a little on the pricey side, but two people can EASILY share one of their larger entrees (I suggest "The Steak" if you like ribeye, or "El Presidente" if you would prefer porterhouse - part strip, part filet). They run $29 each, but you get a large steak (20-22 oz - bone in), a large salad (I recommend the wedge salad with bleu cheese crumbles, bleu cheese & catalina dressings, & bacon bits), a side, and tasty rolls. I have always found the steaks to be well seasoned & they are oak grilled. They frequently have coupons on their website (currently 15% off from 11am to 5pm) and have an awesome local discount card (if you live in Sevier County) that gets you 15% off and 1 free meal of your choice each year (for your "birthday" but it can be redeemed anytime of year except July & December). As per some of the other reviews, be warned there is a person hawking timeshares setup on the outside corner of the building, but you can easily just ignore or walk away from them.

I love steak and I don't mind paying for good steak. I got a porterhouse and it was just average. Is there any good steak in the smokey mountains?

We have had lunch at GatlinBurg, and Pigeon Forge. The service is very good, and the food is top notch. We always use a coupon for a percentage off of the entire table. Steak burgers are excellent, the kids menu is great also. Dinner can get expensive in a tourist destination, so we always go here for lunch.

Heard that this was THE best place to have a nice steak dinner. Wrong! For starters - the steaks (Rib-eye) were a poor cut - chewy and flavorless! But - worst of all - the manager - Brian Foss - was horrible! From the moment we came into the restaurant till we left he was just plain rude, arrogant and seriously lacking customer service skills. When asked how many in our party we got an eye-roll. When asked if everyone was there we said almost. He didn't hesitate to show his impatience with us. We were a large party - 15 - and we came well after the crowds - 9:30 but were seated at 3 high-back booths back to back from each other and then given one waitress to cover that whole area. We had a wonderful server - Debi - but it was hardly fair to her to not get any assistance from her manager in making sure we were well taken care of. We waited 20 minutes before getting our drinks, another 10 to take our orders and then 1/2 before receiving our salads which came at the same time as the bread! Although Debi was very attentive and people friendly it just didn't make up for the long lengths of time in between courses. BTW - the salad was amazing - the best thing I'd say on the table. And I have to give props to THE BIG BURGER too which my nephew said was awesome and a lot of food. The manager never once came back to our area to ask how everything was. Inexcusable! We ended up being at the restaurant for 3 hours - spent 170.00 for a mediocre meal! We would of been better off at McDonald's. So - I would highly avoid this particular ALAMO while visiting Pigeon Forge / Gatlinburg Tenn.

This is the best steakhouse in the mountains! They run awesome specials in the off season (BOGO!!!). But, I would pay full price anytime since this food is so delicious! The filet is my favorite, and so tender I cut it with my fork! The management and wait staff here are so friendly and helpful! Must try if you haven't eaten here!

I usually eat steak twice a month and I usually go out for steak once every other month or so. This was by far the best steak... And baked potato that I have ever eaten. Our server was the best that you could hope for, we were left alone and only seemed to be bothered when we needed something. The atmosphere was decent... I think that we ended up with a great booth off in the corner which I am sure really helped too. It was a little mor expensive then I am used to but the extra couple bucks went a very long way.

I had filet migon which was delicious. The cut was good enough that it didn't require steak sauce. The dinner rolls were very tasty. I enjoyed the salad also. My waitress was very nice and friendly. Nice relaxing atmosphere. Will visit again next time I am in town.

Touristy feel from the minute you exit your vehicle in the parking lot...wait, this is Pigeon Forge ...skip that. Nice people...then again, this is Pigeon Forge, there are nice folks everywhere...even in the Beef Jerkey Outlet (not that being immersed in dried meat products all day would foster an angry employee). I've been to some of the top steak houses around the country and I know my beef. The steaks here are big and have an open flame/charcoal flavor. The grilled chicken (I had it on my salad) tastes...like.....well ..steak. I'm guessing it was cooked sandwiched in with 40 other ribeyes that were probably on the grill at the same time. The portions were huge...this is good because I watched a lot of professional eaters and non-athletes roll through the door. The staff encouraged training in this area by refusing my 14 year old son to order a "light meal" off the kids menu (He consumed an entire peperoni pizza 4 hours before). He was steered right to the $25 steak. Desserts were so large that if fed to a small child, the subsequent hyperactivity would test the anger meter of even Mr. Rogers. Overall this place caterers to what we Americans expect from a restaurant in a vacation hot spot: big portions, big selection of familiar steak house "sides", big bill, and a big trip to the out house the next morning after that first cup of coffee. BEWARE: The nice guy in the kyosk out in the parking lot who is soooooo interested in how your vacation is going. Yep....time share peddler. I have been ambushed by these fuckers everywhere from Puerto Rico to Argentina. Jethro here intercepted me and the wife on the way out to the car. I am usually on the look out for idiots and didn't see this one comming ....fitting, Davie Crockett didnt expect General Santa Anna to return with 30,000 Mexican soldiers to lay siege on The Alamo (I know...it was actually James Bowie but nobody paid attention to that in history class). I guess thats the purpose of an ambush, you don't see it comming. After explaining we were staying in our friends $1.2 mil. cabin up on the mountian and were well accomodated...he still kept rolling with the sales pitch. Now, I play hockey and am an expert in the Englewood Jack (go ahead, Youtube " Samuel L. Jackson Englewood Jack"). I was buzzed enough on Budwieser and chocolate cake that he may have found him self with his polo pulled up over his head and bleeding. Unfortuantely I would have had to endure the lecture from the wife in the mini van after (something about quitting anger management classes again...) and that is far worse than 5 min in the penalty box. Bottome line: If Ruth's Chris allows time share vultures into their parking lots, I'll switch to Long John Silvers. Alamo...get those blood suckers off your property....WTF?

We were here over two hours and it wasn't very busy. They didn't put our main order in until after we received our appetizer! And they said they did that on purpose. After we were done with the appetizer we waited about another 45 minutes before our food came! We told the manager all of this and they did not offer anything to make it right. Then we asked for our check and waited another 10 minutes to get it!!! Will definitely not be coming back here if we're ever in the area again. Went to JT Hannahs the first night we were here and that place blows this place out of the water!

My wife and I came up here to have dinner. We were looking for steak and this sounded like a great place to visit. Unfortunately our dinner experience was not very pleasant and completely crazy. Started off with a soup, can't remember what it was but it was pretty forgettable. My wife ordered a fillet Mignon with veggies on the side, it was blah.. I ordered a NY Strip with Mashed potatoes and it was ok nothing to yell about. The interesting story on this night was with the waitress. I ordered mashed potatoes and they brought me french fries. I immediately told the waitress that there was a mistake that they brought me the wrong side and she removed my plate from in front of me. I would have thought that she would have just brought me a side of mashed potatoes but no that wasn't the case. My plate was going bye -bye. When she picked up my plate she looked at my wife kinda strange and my wife asked her what was the problem. Apparently the waitress noticed that a french fry had dropped on her plate and she went over with her fingers in her plate and removed the offending fry. My wife and I looked at each other in shock because we couldn't believe what had just happened. She came back and dropped off my plate about five minutes later and I was about to ask her if the lonely fry was corralled back to the french fry ranch from which it came from but she took off like a bolt of lightning. I was going to tell the manager about our little adventure but we had been at Gatlinburg all day and we were just to exhausted to deal with it. So if anyone goes to the Alamo Steak House just make sure that you get the right side on your dish from the get go because it's going to get strange.. Oh yeah the food tasted like it was straight out of a Sizzler except with a higher price tag. Won't be back here again, too many choices in the area. Watch out for that Romanian waitress she's a doozy.

Alamo Steak House - Pigeon Forge TN Not much to say here. Overpriced. The steaks are not even on the decent level - let alone good. The service we had was awful. It's been awhile since we have been to this place - so take that into account. Our experience was terrible.

Ah the kitsch of Texas lore in the land of some cotton dixie kitsch and historical amnesia. The Alamo is a decent place for dinner, though overpriced. Might be worth it though to take a break from fast food and deep fried everything. Service was friendly. The ritz cracker grouper is tasty and flaky. An interesting texture. Too bad the spinach salad had bacon bits all over it (yeah my fault I don't eat pork and need to remember to specify in the South). The sweet potato with brown sugar was nice, but could have been more tender. Warm bread was also nice. Good meal, but overpriced. Oh well, it's a tourist destination.

The service was great. Our host and waitress were friendly and super attentive. The food was delicious.

This is a wonderful place and the staff is so polite. Our Steaks were excellently prepared. Grilled just right, juicy, and fresh. The wedge salad my husband got was nice and I loved the spinach salad, plus the rolls with honey butter are to die for!

We loved everything from the call ahead seating, our juicy steaks, and our server. Top notch all the way. Do not waste your time across the street at Paula Deans! Two hour wait, and our food was cold! This is the place to eat!! Thanks for making our night out a great one!

The only reason to go back was for dessert! The steak was not worth $30 to taste like a steak from ponderosa! The salad had a hair in it and the other salad had a bug:( nasty!!! I will not return on my next visit, save your money!

Food was not great. Both the Steak Oscar and Salmon Oscar tasted awful. Shrimp Scampi was just ok. There are much better restaurants around. Don't bother with this one.

The food is always awesome, the steak melts in your mouth. The ribeye is the most flavorful steak you can get there. The sides are just as good. We always make it a point to eat at The Alamo when we are in town. The wait can be long if you go to close to dinner time.

We went there with 3 kids and all of us loved it. Food was good, place was clean, service was excellent, and price was very reasonable. Glad we found this local place instead of going to a chain.
